The Pre/Carbon Filter (stages 1-2) lasts the earlier of 600 gallons or 6 months; the VOC filter (stage 4) lasts the earlier of 600 gallons or 12 months; and the Reverse Osmosis filter (stage 3) lasts the earlier of 1200 gallons or 24 months (2 years).

It takes around 12-15 minutes to filter one gallon of tap water. One gallon of tap water makes 3/4 of a gallon, or 3 quarts, of purified water. The remaining 1/4 of water left in the tap water tank is “waste water” and should be discarded (or used to water plants) after the filtration process is complete. The digital display will show a full blue circle at the top to remind you that the tap tank needs to be emptied and refilled with new tap water.

Does AquaTru make your water chilled or cool?
We do not have an option to chill the water on the actual device. However, we designed the purified water tank to be removable and have an easy dispensing button, so you can actually take it from your machine to your fridge and leave it in there so you always have cold water on hand. Our customers who prefer this usually purchase an additional clean water tank so they can have one in the fridge and one on their AquaTru.

Are the tanks made of BPA-free plastic?
AquaTru uses Tritan plastic, the same BPA & BPS free plastic used in best-selling food blenders like Nutri Bullet and Vitamix. Tritan has been tested at universities and independent third-party labs and the results have overwhelmingly demonstrated that it is safe and free of estrogenic and androgenic activity. If you prefer to avoid all plastics, you can simply transfer the purified water into a glass pitcher after the filtering process.

What is "waste water"?
Reverse osmosis technology uses high pressure to force water through an extremely fine semi-permeable membrane, filtering out dangerous inorganic chemicals, including lead, chromium 6, arsenic, uranium, nitrates and lots of other contaminants. During this process, the contaminants that do not pass through the membrane are flushed away from the membrane. You may be familiar with how wasteful normal under the sink reverse osmosis systems are, sending anywhere from 3-5 gallons of waste water straight down the drain for every 1 gallon of pure water produced; that’s nearly 80% inefficiency! AquaTru’s technology recirculates a certain amount of waste water back through the system multiple times, boasting 80% efficiency. For every 1 gallon of tap water, 3/4 of a gallon of purified water is produced. This process flushes the filters to optimize performance and leaves concentrated contaminants in the tap water tank so you can easily discard it. The small amount of waste water should be discarded after each full tank is filtered or can even be used for watering your yard or lawn.

Currently, we do not have any units that increase alkalinity, but we make Perfect Minerals, which are mineral drops that turn your purified water into naturally alkaline mineral water when added after filtering.

I've heard stripping water of all minerals is unhealthy. Does AquaTru do that?
Some people have a misconception that the Reverse Osmosis process removes ALL minerals from water. AquaTru removes about 90% of minerals, but not all of them. Many holistic medical practitioners, including Dr. Mark Hyman, consider AquaTru to be the best source of pure, healthy water. But we do like to accommodate all of our customers’ preferences.
Most North Americans prefer water with a low TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) rating since it has the “cleanest” taste. If we automatically put minerals back in, we would be removing this option for those people, so we leave the option to add minerals to the individuals.
Many of our customers who are concerned about the low mineral content of filtered, purified water use mineral drops and even use our own AquaTru Perfect Minerals that are offered on our main website & on Amazon and turn AquaTru water into naturally alkaline mineral water. Our mineral drops come from the Great Salt Lake in Utah, where its nutrient-rich waters contain over 72 ionic minerals and trace elements that are 8-10 times more concentrated than regular seawater-in precisely the same proportion as healthy human fluids.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?
